De Vriendenhoeve; Something for everyone
Krickenpatt 3, 49843 Getelo, Duitsland
Description
A lovely weekend getaway, soaking up culture, walking through unspoiled nature, enjoying the summer sun, or simply enjoying each other—here, it’s all possible. This cozy holiday destination for 10-18 people is located just over the border in Germany, next to the beautiful Overijssel Twente region. Everyone can enjoy hiking, cycling, horseback riding, fun outings in the area, or just relaxing and doing nothing. Whether you’re escaping with friends, a club, family, or colleagues, you’ve come to the right place.
The group accommodation is a charming house directly adjacent to the forest. You have access to a spacious living room with an adjoining open kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a 2x 4-burner electric stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. In the utility room, there are two large refrigerators, one of which has a freezer compartment. Want to enjoy a beer? There’s a tap available (you can bring your own keg or order one from us). You can have a lovely meal together at the long dining table with 18 chairs.
A dip in the new 8 x 4 pool, maintained at a constant temperature of 28 degrees, is irresistible. During the warm summer months, the water will feel refreshingly cool. The pool is available from April 1 to mid-October. There is a large field for fun activities, including a trampoline, volleyball net, table tennis, and various outdoor games. In the evening, everyone can relax and enjoy a drink around a cozy campfire or play a fun game. If it starts to rain, you can sit comfortably under the covered area, where you can also have a BBQ in the winter. Almost everything can be arranged upon request. In short, all the ingredients for a very successful weekend are present.
Due to the (quiet) location of the accommodation, a small party can be celebrated. The music can be played a little louder. This same (quiet) location also allows for a wonderfully peaceful weekend. Exhaust fumes from a busy road or light pollution? No, we don’t have that around here. Here, you can still enjoy warmth, friendliness, and everything nature has to offer.
Booking breakfast or bed linen is possible. Pets are welcome for an additional fee.
Please note: an option or viewing appointment is not possible at this holiday destination.

Surroundings
Nature
The nature reserve Springendal is often referred to as “the garden of the Netherlands.” In the heart of the forest, you’ll find picturesque spring ponds, waterfalls, and narrow streams. Hills, meadows, lakes, hay fields, heathlands, and historic farms complete the picture and are definitely worth a visit. Along the border with Germany lies the varied landscape of the Bergvennen and the Brecklenkampse Veld. While walking through this area, you’ll encounter dry and wet heath, ponds, sparse hay meadows, and forests. The tranquility, openness, and beautiful nature ensure that you completely relax.
Activities
There’s plenty to do in the area. How about visiting the Aquadrome swimming paradise in Enschede, Adventure Park Hellendoorn, the Nordhorn Zoo, or trying out buggy or quad driving, canoeing, riding a Solex, or klootschieten? In the summer, it’s delightful to relax at the Wilsumer Berge recreation area, where you can swim in the pond by the beach. Located along the Dinkel River and near Denekamp, you’ll also find the beautiful Singraven estate. The estate features many monumental buildings, including the stately Huis Singraven, where you can take a guided tour, and the centuries-old water-powered sawmill with three wheels. For those who want to explore the heavens up close, the Cosmos observatory offers a great experience. Here, you can look through telescopes, watch films or live shows in the astro theater, or explore the entire universe in the planetarium.
Towns and Villages
The nearby town of Ootmarsum is known as the art city of Eastern Netherlands. This picturesque town has a rich history, which you can experience as you stroll through its winding streets, admire the beautiful facades and old buildings, visit a church, or explore a museum. Walking through the alleyways and narrow streets of authentic and fairy-tale-like Ootmarsum, you can enjoy the cozy atmosphere and discover a variety of shops and dining options. Art lovers can revel in the many art galleries and different museums. After a walk through the town, it’s nice to relax at one of the charming terraces. Fun places to visit in Germany include Uelsen and Bad Bentheim. Don’t miss the German city of Nordhorn, where you’ll find a lively center and a lovely city park. For extensive shopping, you can head to Enschede, just a half-hour drive away. Tubbergen and Denekamp are also worth a visit. Go on an adventure and discover what the surroundings have to offer!
